Dr. Riffel began her career working with students at the school for the visually impaired. She moved to public education and taught all grades, Pre-K through 12th grade, in general and special education. She then moved to the University, where she taught several courses, including Applied Behavior Analysis for Classroom Teachers at Georgia State University.
She ran a statewide program for Behavioral Interventions in the state of Georgia and also ran a day clinic for children who were being considered for institutionalization.
In 2005, she moved back to Kansas and began a consulting business, helping schools around the world through keynote presentations, professional development, and data analysis.
She retired in 2025 and now volunteers four/five days a week in an elementary school and preschool center, as well as teaching a weekly Sunday School Class to kindergarteners. She now writes books for children.
